Functional Tests

Laboratory testing done in functional medicine is a critical part of creating your personalized health restoration plan. They provide the “road map” of what is going on in your body at a deeper level. These tests are generally not provided/available through conventional laboratories. You will be provided a test kit, collections of stool, urine or saliva are done in your home with a special kit and then sent out to lab. Blood tests are done through specialty labs.

Adrenal & Hormone Testing

This test is a steroid hormone profile that measures hormones and hormone metabolites in a dried urine sample. It measures both free Cortisol and Metabolized Cortisol, Estrogen, Progesterone, Testosterone, DHEA, and Melatonin. Measuring both hormones and their metabolites can give a much better overall picture of hormone production and adrenal function. This testing is the first step to working with the Body Phase I- Hormones.  To uncover your hormone status and establish an adrenal protocol.

Female Menstrual Cycle Mapping

This profile evaluates hormones throughout a full menstrual cycle giving a more comprehensive picture of a women’s cycle.  For some female patients, testing on just one day of the month is not enough. Women with infertility, irregular cycles or no menstrual bleeding due to an ablation or partial hysterectomy can benefit from Cycle Mapping.

Stool Testing

Looking at gut health is key to evaluating your overall health. This test measures opportunistic organisms, normal flora, fungi, parasites and markers for intestinal permeability, gastrointestinal health and function including Zonulin, SIgA, Elastase, Calprotectin and Anti-gliadin testing. This test is essential in Body Phase 2 –Gut Health. To uncover hidden gut inflections and gut status.

Organic Acids Test (OAT)

Laboratory testing done in functional medicine is a critical part of creating your personalized health restoration plan. They provide the “road map” of what is going on in your body at a deeper level. These tests are generally not provided/available through conventional laboratories. You will be provided a test kit, collections of stool, urine or saliva are done in your home with a special kit and then sent out to lab. Blood tests are done through specialty labs.

Food Sensitivity/Allergy Testing

This is a blood test to uncover food sensitivities/allergies. This specific test is testing for IgG and IgA antibodies to food. Generally these are considered hidden food sensitivities because often we are not aware that they are causing a problem. Symptoms can occur days or even weeks later.  The results can help determine which foods may be triggering inflammation and affecting your overall health and immune system. Food sensitivity tests can be a key component to healing Leaky Gut and other inflammatory-related conditions and personalizing your nutrition plan.

Cardiometabolic

Standard cholesterol tests can miss that YOU are at risk. Your cellular metabolism and your cardiovascular system (heart and blood vessels) are intricately linked. The CardioMetabolic test is used to help evaluate and define the risk and direct preventative care for atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease, Type 2 Diabetes/blood sugar control and inflammation. It measures 1.Gycemic Control via (Glucose, Insulin, Hemoglobin A1c, C-Peptide Adiponectin), 2.Lipid Metabolism via (Total cholesterol, LDL, HDL Cholesterol, Triglycerides, Lipoprotein particle size and numbers), 3.Vascular Inflammation via (ApoB100, Lipoprotein a, C- Reactive Protein, Homocysteine). Also includes an OmegaCheck a ratio of your EPA to DHA- essential fatty acids critical to the health of the brain.

Micronutrient

This patented intracellular testing gives insight into your nutritional status by measuring your body’s ability to absorb 32 vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and other essential nutrients into your white blood cells. Scientific evidence shows us that analyzing the white blood cells gives us the most accurate analysis of the body’s deficiencies. Because nutrient deficiencies are often at the root of many chronic symptoms and diseases, nutrient repletion can be an important part of your program optimizing your health and helping in areas of fatigue, depression, anxiety, sleep disturbances and more.

MTHFR (Methylene tetrahydrofolate reductase)

MTHFR is an enzyme that works as a catalyst for important biochemical reactions in your body. The process known as methylation, converts folate into a usable form. Methylation protects your body by repairing damaged cells, optimizes DNA cell function, processing toxins and hormones, metabolizing B vitamins and regulating neurotransmitters which control mood, behavior, sleep and overall mental health. Methylation also converts homocysteine into methionine. If you have a MTHFR mutation, your ability to methylate is reduced and your risk of cardiovascular disease, high blood pressure, inability to detoxify is increased. This is a great test to consider if you experience any of the above issues, have autoimmune disease or thyroid dysfunction.

Complete Thyroid Panel w/ Antibodies

A Complete thyroid panel gives you the most comprehensive look into thyroid function. While TSH can indicate there is a problem, it is a hormone of the pituitary and alone does not indicate the response of the thyroid to the pituitary signal or the ability of the body to convert T4 to the active T3 form. A complete panel includes reverse T3 indicating stress. Antibodies will help determine if you are dealing not just with a thyroid issue, but autoimmunity as well.

Brainspan

This test is utilized to measure your current brain health and if you are at a higher risk for accelerated brain aging, increased inflammation, reduced attention and poor memory.

Dietary, health, genetic, metabolic, and lifestyle factors influence the nutritional and functional health of your brain over time. The BrainSpan™ Assessment allows you to track the health of your brain, like you track the health of your heart. When your brain works right, your body works right. Your BrainSpan™ results identify the specific fatty acids you need to improve and protect your brain, reduce brain inflammation and how to reduce and eliminate brain toxins.
